Want to dive in Lanzarote?
Mountain ranges and beaches come to mind when people think of Lanzarote. But the island has a secret just below the surface: a wild, colorful world below the water that is just ready to be discovered. Lanzarote is a great place to dive, whether it’s your first time or your hundredth.
Conditions for Diving All Year Ideal Water Temperatures
The water is between 18°C in the winter and 24°C in the summer, so you can dive any month of the year without getting too cold.
Clear-as-glass visibility
Between 20 and 30 meters is the normal depth of vision underwater. You can see rock formations, colorful fish, and other sea life clearly, even at great depths.
From New Users to Tech Lovers
Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen has shallow, calm water where beginners can swim with qualified instructors. At deeper spots, advanced divers will find caves, drop-offs, and currents. Technical divers can go to places that offer Nitrox, Trimix, and deeper dives.
Best Sites for Diving in Lanzarote
Playa Chica, near Puerto del Carmen, is the best place on the island to dive from the beach or in a boat. You can swim in Blue Hole, La Catedral, and other places. The depths run from 10 to 40 meters.
Museo Atlántico – Playa Blanca is Europe’s first underwater museum. It is 12 meters deep and has more than 300 statues. A mix of art and caring for the world.
Charco del Palo: It’s quiet and out of the way. Perfect for dives who want to find peace, volcanic features, and uncharted underwater terrain.
Marine Reserve of La Graciosa and Chinijo: A dream for divers. Black corals, groups of fish, caves, and untouched volcanic bottoms can be seen from Caleta de Sebo by boat.
Puerto del Carmen and Punta Tiñosa Wrecks: Explore several ships that have sunk between 20 and 40 meters, where moray eels, nudibranchs, and barracudas live. Punta Tiñosa is close by and has beautiful lava walls and bridges.

Dive centers with experience based in other countries
Lanzarote has PADI/SSI-certified dive centers all the way from Puerto del Carmen to Playa Blanca. They rent out gear, teach people how to use it, lead daily dives, and offer technical help.
Unique Sea Life: Where the Atlantic and the Tropics Meet
Groupers, trumpetfish, parrotfish, angel sharks, rays, turtles, barracuda swarms, and black coral are just some of the species that live in Lanzarote because of its unique location. People who take pictures underwater will love the bright scenes.
Take a dive into a world
There are craters, chimneys, lava tubes, and natural bridges. Because the island was once a volcano, it has one of the most beautiful underwater scenes in all of Europe. Marine life can hide in these rocks, which also make for stunning views.
After the Dive… Check out the Island
Mirador del Río, Timanfaya National Park, or Jameos del Agua are all great places to visit. In volcanic fields “La Geria”, you can taste Malvasía wine. Eat food from the area or check out farmers’ markets.
