Puerto del Carmen is the original and largest resort in Lanzarote. The Avenida de las Playas, is the main promenade and stretches about 7km with beaches on one side and restaurants, bars, shops on the other. The quaint old town includes the harbour and docks, where you will also find a variety of restaurants and bars with views across the harbour and the sea to the volcanic mountains of Papagayo beyond and views of Fuerteventura.
Located on the southern coast Puerto del Carmen can experience temperatures slightly higher than resorts to the North of the island and offers very little breeze. Puerto del Carmen is ideal for all types of visitors and offers a lively nightlife.

Look for great meats, fish and tapas if you’re looking for local food or choose from a range of international foods like Italian, Indian, Chinese – you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Get active
Take a walk along the great promenade in Puerto del Carmen that stretches over 7km! There’s numerous other activities on offer too, so why not have a go at something new? There’s loads to choose from: Bike hire, Jet ski hire, Parascending, Sea kayaking, Diving and of course Golf.
All the schools offer ‘trial’ packages for beginners and courses for intermediate and advanced sporting enthusiasts.
Shopping
The Avenida de las Playas is lined with a range of designer outlets as well as perfumeries, jewellers and souvenir shops, you won’t have to walk far to come across some bargains.
Puerto del Carmen is also home to the Biosfera shopping centre where you’ll find spanish clothing shops such as Zara, Bershka, Punto Roma and much more.
