Puerto del Carmen is the original and largest resort in Lanzarote. The Avenida de las Playas, is the main promenade and stretches about 7km with beaches on one side and restaurants, bars, shops on the other. The quaint old town includes the harbour and docks, where you will also find a variety of restaurants and bars with views across the harbour and the sea to the volcanic mountains of Papagayo beyond and views of Fuerteventura.

Centrally located, Puerto del Carmen is pretty close to most of the tourist attractions from Timfaya National Park (Volcanos), La Geria (the wine region), GoKarting, Rancho Texas and the aquaparks of Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise we’re sure you will find plenty of fun to be had by all the family. Even if you’re not hiring a car, you’ll be able to book an excursion locally.

Enjoy a good old english breakfast or do what the spanish do and drop into a local cafe for a sandwich or pastry. There are endless good quality options for lunch and evening meals, it really depends on what you fancy and when. Look for great meats, fish and tapas if you’re looking for local food or choose from a range of international foods like Italian, Indian, Chinese – you’ll be spoilt for choice!

All the schools offer ‘trial’ packages for beginners and courses for intermediate and advanced sporting enthusiasts.

The Avenida de las Playas is lined with a range of designer outlets as well as perfumeries, jewellers and souvenir shops, you won’t have to walk far to come across some bargains.
Puerto del Carmen is also home to the Biosfera shopping centre where you’ll find spanish clothing shops such as Zara, Bershka, Punto Roma and much more.
